It is very much a global player with its headquarters in Munich and almost 35,000 employees throughout the world.Five percent of sales is ploughed back into research and development. Osram supplies customers in more than 140 countries and manufactures in 54 factories in 18 countries.
Osram is 100 years young. On July 1, 1919 AEG, Siemens & Halske AG and Deutsche Gasglühlicht AG (Auer Gesellschaft) merged their light bulb production activities. Today, Siemens AG is the sole shareholder in Osram GmbH. The OSRAM brand name was registered way back in 1906 and is one of the oldest trade names still recognised throughout the world.
